From brief to finished pack: keep a shared reference.
Agreement points for purchasing, brand teams and the manufacturer at each stage.
This article lists what to prepare before asking for a packaging quote: your product, dimensions, quantity and the experience you want customers to have.

A brief does not need every specification on day one. Start by separating known facts, questions needing advice and the criteria your business will use to approve a proposal.
Share photographs or a product sample, dimensions and how customers use it. Distinguish the immediate packaging, display box, gift presentation and protection needed during delivery.
Quantities may cover several variants or delivery batches. List each requirement and preferred milestone separately so different specifications are not confused within one total.
A reference can explain an opening style or surface feel. Identify what interests you rather than asking to copy another brand’s packaging. If the material is undecided, say you need advice and describe the required outcome.
